Tuesday Teaser

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Still reading The Witch Doctor's Wifeby Tamar Myers. I'm almost to the end.

So my teaser is from page 107-
"Who carries the water, Mamu? Is that to be my job?"
"No, it is no one's job. For there is a faucet here too, similar to the one in the kitchen.  We fill this -uh, I shall call it a pot- with water, and then we sit in it and wash with soap. That is how we bathe."

Ok its more than 2 sentences but I HAD to add the whole paragraph!

So whats your teaser??

Its MONDAY!! What Are You Reading Monday.....

Its Monday and things are getting back to normal. Husbands back to work, son is back to the school schedule.

It's Monday! What are you reading this week? is a weekly event hosted by J. Kaye Book to celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week. Feel free to join in this weekly event if you'd like as well as use the photo/pic/button above.

Books completed last week: None :(

Books I am currently reading/listening to: The Witch Doctor's Wife
by Tamar Myers.

I'm really digging this book. Amanda Brown, a missionary, flies to the Belgian Congo to replace the missionaries running the missionary guest house. As the plane descends for landing, they experience problems and crashes into the trees and starts a blazing fire. Amanda who has hit her head and going in and out of consciousness, is carried off the plane by an unknown Nigerian man. In the meantime, this unknown Nigerian man needs to get away without being noticed and does so, disappearing in the woods.
I'm dying to know who this unknown Nigerian man is!  More later.

Up Next:

600 Hours of Edward by Craig Lancaster
Back of the book:  Edward Stanton is a man hurtling headlong toward the middle age. His mental illness has led him to be sequestered in his small house in a small city, where he keeps his distance from the outside world and the parents from whom he is largely estranged.
For the most part, Edward sticks to things he can count on.. and things he can count. But over the course of 25 days (or 600 hours, as Edward prefers to look at it) several events puncture  the walls Edwards has built around himself.
In the end, he faces a choice: Open his life to experience and deal with the joys and heartaches that come with it, or remain behind his closed door, a solitary soul.
  Sounds intriguing!!

After that is The Dark Matter Directive  by D. Charles Wilson.

From Amazon:
Product Description
When fourteen-year-old Eric Jessing wakes up one morning and finds the bathroom mirror has turned an endless black, he's clued in that things are about to get very interesting. A string of frightening and unexplainable occurrences follow that lead their dad, Matt, to feel his sons need protecting. After he ushers them out of the house, he calls a local psychic hoping for a sympathetic ear and a way to stop what seems like psychic phenomena. Unfortunately, what Matt learns is that his kids were born with a special gift: the ability to draw in and deflect dark spiritual energy like a pair of paranormal lightning rods. Worse, a particularly nasty entity called `The Red Horseman' has noticed, and sets out to absorb their ability. Directed to a renowned physicist and bookseller named Harker Jeffries, the boys learn that a secret society of children like themselves exist all over the world and have been at war with each other for thousands of years.

Thats all for now!!  Have a great week.

Best regards,

My teaser comes from the book The Witch Doctor's Wife by Tamar Myers:

"In addition to the mush, cassava greens, and palm-oil gravy, there were grubs. Wonderful, fat, juicy grubs. "

Sounds so gross!!  But I just started it and was hooked from the beginning.

Whats your teaser??

Lovely New Awards! Its Monday What Are You Reading?

I would like to thank Laurel  for  this wonderful award!

The rules are fairly simple:

This blog award has been passed on to me along with nine other people. The rules of this one is to list ten honest things about me and then pass the award on to ten other book bloggers. First for the easy part, to list ten things:

Honest
Good listener
Good wife and mother.
Will read instead of doing dishes
Sits on the computer way to much
Loves to shop
Loves to do crafts
Hates to clean house
Loves chocolate  and eats way to much
Haven't grown up, still a kid

That wasn't so easy!   I'll have to pass it on later.

I would also like to thank Christine from Booktumbling   for this award:

  1. Where is your favorite place to read a book?  My couch with tons of pillows.
  2. Bookmarks or dog ears? Bookmark
  3. What is the best book you have read so far this year? Too many to list.
  4. Do you like to snack while reading and if so, what is your favorite snack?  No to distracting LOL!
  5. Book borrower or book collector?Definitely a collector and my bookshelf is overflowing.

Thank you so much Laurel & Christine for these wonderful awards!

What am I reading ? This week its a book called Musical Chairs by Jen Knox - From Amazon:

Product Description

Musical Chairs explores one family's history of mental health diagnoses and searches to define the cusp between a '90s working-class childhood and the trouble of adapting to a comfortable life in the suburbs. In order to understand her restlessness, Jennifer reflects on years of strip-dancing, alcoholism, and estrangement. Inspired by the least likely source, the family she left behind, Jennifer struggles towards reconciliation. This story is about identity, class, family ties, and the elusive nature of mental illness.

After that  its The Witch Doctor's Wife by Tamar Myers - this one is an Early Reviewer from Library Thing.

Thats all for now! Hope you all have a great week.
