It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Now Reading - Petals From The Sky

Next on the list - Kill Me Twice by Jerry Bayne - From Amazon:

In Kill Me Twice, acclaimed suspense writer Jerry Bayne provides action thriller fans an explosive tale. Author of The Gatherer, Bayne picks up the pace and carries the torch. With a biting prose that discerning readers have come to expect, Bayne refuses to pull any punches in illustrating the dark underbelly of our nation’s capital and proves that when it comes to political wrangling, it is nearly impossible to distinguish the good guys from the villains. When the U.S. government wrongs Bradley Cardiff, he refuses to take it on the chin or turn the other cheek. Bent on revenge, the lone Cardiff becomes a killing machine. With his family executed, he has nothing left to lose—he is a loose cannon that wants nothing more than to kill political minions one by one before assassinating the ultimate target. A joint team including Secret Service and the CIA is formed. In an attempt to gain a leg up on their sly fugitive, they will enlist a Boston detective who has a connection with Cardiff.

The Creed of Violence by Boston Teran - From Amazon:

Teran's cinematic fifth novel portrays the 1910 Mexican revolution via the gun sights of an unlikely duo: Rawbone, a hardened smalltime assassin, and John Lourdes, a Bureau of Investigation agent. The two are thrown together when Rawbone is caught smuggling munitions from Texas into Mexico and Rawbone's lawyer arranges a deal: immunity in exchange for Rawbone sharing his criminal intel. A bargain is struck, with Lourdes assigned to accompany Rawbone into the Mexican underground. The twist: Lourdes, unknown to everyone but himself, is Rawbone's son. As the two men make their way through a snake's nest of smugglers, thugs and professional killers, Lourdes must suppress the angst he feels toward his father and focus on surviving another day. While this bit of dramatic irony quickly wears thin, father and son share a sharp wit, cunning instinct and thirst for adventure that make this spy mission the very definition of a thrill. Teran's fast-paced prose reads like it was written for the big screen (Universal scooped up the film rights), and even if the moralizing about U.S. foreign intervention gets heavy-handed, this remains an intelligent page-turner. I've heard of Petals From the Sky, but the other books you mention are all new to me, and they all sound interesting - especially The Dark Matter Directive. Might have to give that one a closer look. Hope you enjoy all your reads this week.
