Sunday Salon

Where did the weekend go?? I am not ready for the weekend to end.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed IIWe have a Wii and for Christmas we got my son the Star Wars game and the light sabers to go with it.   I am so irritated because I thought I read somewhere that the sabers work well and it enhances the game play but the communication with the game is poor, to much plastic or something in front of the remote and I can't return them because, well my son got to carried away opening the box and tore it up.
But the game was fun and my son loved it. He got the through the whole game in 2 days!
With his Christmas money he bought another Wii game that is supposed to be fun, we'll see. Its called Active Life Explorer and it comes with a mat for the running, jumping, crawling, etc. I wish they had something like "Try before you buy" games.

I am still on target with my reading goal this month. I am reading A Cup of Friendship but I have to say, its a little boring in some parts. So far it's about a woman who owns a coffee shop in Kabul, Afghanistan, a misogynist country, run by the Taliban and she is determined to make it a safe place amidst the suicide bombings and a safe haven for women. But I'm disappointed, I had high hopes for it.

So I decided to start  on Wor ds and wow! First 2 pages had me hooked. Ok, so this is the first couple of paragraphs:

I collect words.
I keep them in a box in my mind. I'd like to keep them in a real box, something pretty, maybe a shoe box covered with flowered wrapping paper. I'd write my words on scraps of paper and then put them in the box.  Whenever I wanted, I'd open the box and pick up the papers, reading and feeling the words all at once. Then I could hide the box.
But the words are safer in my mind. There, he can't take them.

Sooo sad but it keeps you reading, wanting to know what her story is and who HE is.  I keep picking it up and reading a page here and there when I get a second to sit.  I'll probably finish it today.

WordsA Cup of Friendship: A Novel

Well that's a wrap. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

I've discovered the same thing with other wii remote attachments (like the tennis paddle, baseball bat, and some of the steering wheels). We sometimes buy games used at a video game store, that way we're not out as much money if we don't like something. If you have a video game store near you maybe you could sell it to them used. (We have a Game Stop store near us, but I don't know if they are in your area.)

Happy Sunday, Natalie. The weekend did speed past; I'd hoped to get more reading in. The Words book sounds quite good.

My grandson loves his Wii...when he's at my house, he plays video games, but I don't have a Wii, so he fantasizes about getting home to it.

I like the sound of Words. Captivating.

Words do sound like a great book. I haven't seen a Wii in my life but definitely have heard good things about it. :D
